Candidates Are Asking the Tough Questions

There is a great deal of competition in the workplace today to find the best qualified candidates – those individuals who are head and shoulders above the rest. These top job seekers realize that the more they know about the prospective company, the easier choice they will have when accepting a job offer. Hiring managers must be ready to answer the tough questions that they will inevitably be hearing from prospective employees.

A few questions include:

  1. What is the company’s profit margin? How does that compare to last year?

  1. Tell me about your company culture – what are the best aspects and what are the worst aspects?

  1. What strategic advantage do you have over your competitors?

  1. When was the last significant layoff? What prompted it?

  1. What is the best thing about the team I would be working with? What is the worst thing?

  1. What type of training would I receive? From whom would I be receiving the training? What is the normal acceptable learning curve time?

  1. When will you be making your hiring decision?
