Recovering Denver economy creates increased opportunities for temporary staffing services; Downtown location to focus on hospitality, office and clerical temporary staffing
DENVER, February 15, 2011 – In yet another sign of the improving Denver economy, temporary staffing agency Snelling Staffing Services has opened an office in the city’s downtown area. The new 17th Street location (621 17th Street), which is the second Snelling office in Metro Denver, is owned by local entrepreneur Dottie Peterson. Peterson also recently acquired the Snelling office located in the Denver Tech Center. Snelling Staffing Services of downtown Denver will focus on the hospitality industry, as well as office and clerical solutions.
“There are a lot of opportunities in downtown Denver, especially in the temporary employment sector of the hospitality industry,” said Peterson. “As the economy begins to recover and grow, businesses are looking for short-term, lower-risk alternatives to hiring full-time staff to meet increased demands.”
According to the Metro Denver Economic Development Corporation (Metro Denver EDC), the area’s employment fell sharply during the recession and did not return to 2009 levels, which were greatly diminished, until late 2010. Metro Denver EDC chief economist Patty Silverstein recently forecast that local employers’ hiring expectations are improving, but employers are still generally less optimistic about jobs than they were before the recession. Employment forecasts set growth in Metro Denver for 2011 at 1.1 percent, which represents an additional 14,300 jobs.
“Temporary staffing is a good solution for many employers who need talent, but are hesitant to commit to a full-time staff,” said Peterson. “We do a very good job of maximizing efficiencies. For example, a lot of customers are hungry for a staffing service that provides thorough candidate screening. From the time a candidate walks into a Snelling office, we do everything from e-Verify and background checks to behavioral screenings. We’re very thorough, and we always provide our clients and candidates with the highest level of service.”
