HR Assistant

JOB DESCRIPTION

Our client is a Northwest Houston-based supplier of safety and industrial products that seeks an HR Assistant for a temporary to hire opportunity. Hours are M-F 8am to 5pm, pay is $33k to $35k annually.

 

Job Description:

The HR Assistant will be a customer-focused person with a business-oriented mindset. This is an entry-level position and is responsible for performing a variety of administrative and technical human resource activities in support of our employees and managers.

Responsibilities:

Support administrative processes of the human resource function including recruiting, new hire processing, pre-employment testing, and personnel file maintenance, verification of employment requests and I9 compliance.

Act as first point of contact for inquiries into HR from internal and external employees and managers by providing a high level of professionalism and promptly responding in accordance with our service delivery standards.

Responsible for data entry, verification, managing workflow, auditing, reporting within Paycom (HRIS system) to ensure highest level of data integrity.

Administration and maintenance of assigned programs or projects in support of HR. Assist with HR projects and programs including task list, tracking, meeting minutes, action items distribution and status reports.

May assist in coordination of employee events, off-sites, meetings, lunches as part of the HR Team.

Supports daily and yearly HR duties such as open enrollment, 401(k), performance review process and employee training where necessary.

Additional tasks as assigned by HR Manager/ Benefit and Payroll Administrator.

 

 

 

Required Skills:

Professional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate thoughts and ideas.

Ability to organize and prioritize responsibilities and manage time accordingly.

Flexible and willing to take initiative, bring new ideas to the team and support the team as needed.

Able and willing to handle multiple assignments with a high degree of accuracy and strong attention to detail.

Can manage through multiple computer applications with speed and accuracy.

Ability to multi-task while under pressure.

Ability to work professionally in a team environment as well as cross-functionally.

Experience with HRIS (Paycom), MS Office/Windows

 

Required Experience:

2-4 years of experience in HR or customer facing administrative type role.

Bilingual (preferred)

PHR or SPHR (preferred or willing to begin study within the first year).

 

Work Environment / Physical Demands:

Work is performed in a professional office setting, business casual environment. Working extended hours may be required as needed.

The physical demands for this position include exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally. This position is considered sedentary work, which involves sitting most of the time; walking and standing are required, as well as on occasion. Telephone and computer work are required.
