Field Service Technician


Field Service Technician

                Snelling Staffing is looking for a skilled individual to fill a Field Service Technician position. This position requires mechanical and technical skills with good individual drive.

Overview: Learning how to maintain all equipment sold and serviced by the company; and becoming capable of providing great customer service, working on a site at various customer locations in continuously changing environmental conditions as well as when needed in the service shop.

Shift; 1st

Pay; $22.00-$25.00/hr

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Possess all necessary hand tolls to perform work on all units sold and served by the company.
  • Ability to repair or overhaul all equipment sold by the company with little to no supervision.
  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic problems on compact construction and utility equipment on-site at the customer’s location.
  • Correct problems using proven repair and trouble-shooting methods.
  • Fill out required paperwork timely and accurate.
  • Check and re-fill equipment fluid levels
  • Use preventative maintenance techniques to avoid breakdowns.
  • When cleaning equipment, look for loose or missing fasteners, parts, etc…
  • Lubricate all moving parts properly with grease/oil.
  • Conduct routine equipment safety check.
  • Provide excellent customer service, communicating with customers regarding the equipment’s operation and repair.
  • Maintain a clean and safe working area and correct unsafe conditions and practices.
  • Ensure that hazardous materials ae handled appropriately.
  • Up sell other services.
  • Perform at the minimum 85% of the standard time guides set by the manufactures for warranty and 90% of company quotes.
  • Be able to work in the shop or in the field.
  • Be willing to learn new equipment and keep current with new models.
  • Be able to quote all jobs, both parts and labor.
  • Other duties as required.


  • Strong problem solving and customer relations skills.
  • Clean driving record
  • Knowledge of the equipment and their application.
  • Hydraulic, electrical and engine repair experience.
  • Ability to work on your own with little to no on-site supervision.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to work accurately on a fast-paced timeline.
  • Must complete company courses to work in the field
  • Product Update classes as needed
  • Completion of other manufacturer training:
    • Aerial Work Platform and Scissor life;
    • Heavy equipment (Doosan)
    • Compact Utility


  • High School Diploma or GED
  • At least four years mechanic experience.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Engines, Basic Hydraulics and Electrical.
  • Able to perform heavy lifting, pulling and tugging.
  • Able to work outside at customers location in all weather conditions.
  • Constant use of tools which require motion and force.
  • May be required to pass a written and hands-on test before considered for the position.
  • Must provide own tools.
  • Constantly be aware and abide by rigorous safety standards.
  • Able and willing to be on-call rotation with other technicians.
