JOB DESCRIPTION

Are you an experienced Materials or Purchasing Manager seeking a new opportunity? Would you like an opportunity to implement changes that will result in positive outcomes within a manufacturing environment? Snelling is seeking an experienced Materials or Purchasing Manager to join a growing manufacturing company in northeast Texas. This position requires 10 or more years’ experience in a purchasing or materials management capacity. This position will work hand in hand with the Operations Manager and will be involved in the process from when projects are quoted to when they are delivered. The Materials Manager or Purchasing Manager duties will include:

  • Oversee all buyers, schedulers and warehouse personnel and all material activity for which they are responsible.
  • Full responsibility for the Master Schedule, supply chain management, inventory management & the associated cost
  • Working with the Operations Manager, analyze cash flow, warehouse space, project requirements & schedule flexibility to determine the best time to buy for schedule projects
  • Complete oversight of the purchasing system and development/maintenance of buying agreements
  • Coordinate with QA/QC to determine approved suppliers
  • Look ahead for continuous improvement opportunities as it relates to materials activities
     

Materials Manager or Purchasing Manager required qualifications:

  • HS Diploma required, Bachelor’s degree in Business strongly preferred, although an equivalent combination of experience may be considered in lieu of a Bachelor’s degree
  • 10+ years of recent experience in a Materials or Purchasing Management capacity at a manufacturing facility with supervisory responsibilities
  • Hands on experience with lean manufacturing techniques and MRPII concepts
  • Confidence in presenting material to a group
  • Ability to communicate verbally, in person and in writing in a professional, articulate manner
  • Intermediate level experience using Microsoft Office products and the ability/willingness to learn other industry-specific software as needed
  • Detailed planning abilities
  • Prior experience supervising, coaching/developing and terminating employees
