Electronic Components Commodity Manager


Snelling of NoCo is seeking a Electronic Components Commodity Manager. This role is responsible for electronic components commodity management and purchasing performance across the company.  

Location:  Denver
Salary:  $90,000-130,000/year, based on experience, plus an impressive benefits package

  • Develop negotiation strategies and manage the implementation of RFI and RFQ initiatives 
  • Provide electronic components subject matter expertise for both internal and external customers in the areas of Electronic Components market conditions, industry/supplier knowledge, manufacturing process and design guidance, working with the manufacturers on resolution to process quality problems, pipeline risk management, gap analysis, and cost management and cost guidance
  • Develop the Electronic Components commodity strategies: Review supplier PPMs, sourcing strategies, cost reduction strategies, maintain or improve supplier quality and collect/communicate market trend information
  • Develop the electronic components supplier base: new strategic suppliers, supplier audits, supplier assessments, launch new suppliers, manage and enhance suppler relations, and conduct supplier business reviews
  • Support supply chain efforts in managing, mitigating, and communicating monthly pricing changes for parts
  • Responsible for strategic aspects of supplier management to ensure cost-effective products and services are provided with consistent quality and delivery levels. Develop deep executive relationships, coordinate with cross-functional resources to specify strategy, identification, selection and KPI performance of supply base.
  • Proactively collect industry best practices and technology trends, develop company mechanical standards, lead benchmarking efforts, standardization efforts, and provide insight to business unit leaders.
  • Responsible for all supplier contracts. Manage and negotiate MSAs and other agreements with suppliers.
  • Drives Global Supply Chain Policies and Procedure Adherence. Oversees implementation aspects and tracks changes, policy adoption and business unit adherence


  • 3+ years of electronics components business development or electronics components manufacturing experience
  • Broad knowledge of electronic components technologies, electronic components processing, engineering questions, etc.
  • Advanced knowledge and understanding of the electronics contract manufacturing landscape, including general business requirements, developing existing and future/emerging technologies and processes, and implementing business process controls.
  • Purchasing or materials planning experience in mechanical and/or electromechanical, and/or semiconductor technologies.
  • Proven ability to work with suppliers and customers to resolve quality and commercial issues
  • Excellent English communications skills, both written and verbal
  • Experience in implementing commodity strategies by working with cross-functional and cross-business unit teams, both engineering and procurement and interacting with and influencing suppliers.
  • Experience in developing commodity strategies for cost reductions. Strong business acumen with proven negotiation experience and results.  Able to discuss cost drivers and evaluate estimates
  • Experience in providing customer guidance on design choices, processing, quality enhancements, and supplier selection.
  • Ability to read and understand supplier proposals, data sheets, drawings, and component specifications.
  • Familiarity with and ability to interpret and apply quality and manufacturing related certifications including ANSI and ISO standards
  • Advanced skills and proficiency in using the Microsoft Office Suite (Teams, Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Power BI and Outlook).
  • Understands Business Law and aware of International Law. Able to create MSAs. Ability to manage complex commercial relationships.
  • Can communicate commodity vision and goals, creating an open atmosphere and promoting communication. Resolves and manages conflict within organizations/teams, supporting group decisions even if not in total agreement, and anticipates/recognizes potential conflicts, intervening before work product is adversely affected.
  • Project management experience
  • Skilled in developing and measuring KPI performance.
  • Proven analytic, management, negotiation, communication and leadership skills
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 40% of the time
