Legal Assistant


We are working with a growing law firm in the Greenway Plaza area that needs 2 Legal Assistants to join their firm.  The company offers extensive benefits and competitive pay (annual discretionary bonus, overtime, gym membership, medical/dental/vision insurance, 401(k), and more). Hours are M-F 8:30am to 5:30pm and pay is $55k to $75k annually, direct hire.

• Drafting agendas for Board meetings in accordance with Firm guidelines
• Drafting documents for Board meetings for attorney review
• Attending (in-office and/or local out-of-office) Boarding meetings and drafting minutes of the Board meetings
• Organizing and processing documents following Board meetings, including handling District mail
• Working on annexations and creation of Districts
• Organizing District documents for filing
• Maintaining District meeting files and agenda calendars
• Preparing Real Estate Projects Submission Form for easements and land conveyance
• Responding to (or coordinating responses from other consultants regarding) inquiries from residents, consultants, and government agencies
• Drafting, preparing for execution, and processing all District Orders and Resolutions
• Processing and completing required government filings on District-related projects
• Processing documents pursuant to Reference Library
• Working on bond sales pursuant to task list in the Reference Library
• Reporting hours worked on an accurate and timely basis per Firm policy
• Other duties as assigned

• Background in English, Journalism, Legal Studies, Teaching, Project Management, or Public Administration a plus
• Strong writing skills a must
• Strong proof reading skills a must
• Experience editing documents a plus
• Experience attending meetings and taking Minutes a plus, but not required
• Strong oral and written communication skills (emphasis on grammar, spelling, writing skills)
• Must work well with limited supervision
• Ability to meet deadlines with a strict attention to detail
• Ability to communicate with a variety of people
• Ability to work independently on multiple projects
Bachelor's degree required
• Sitting at desk and conference tables for extended periods of time
• 2-3 years of professional work experience preferred
• Often traveling to meetings offsite within the greater Houston area
• Must have reliable transportation
