JOB DESCRIPTION
1st Shift Press Brake Operator
Monday – Friday 7am to 3:30pm
Saturdays and Overtime Mandatory When Needed
$13.50hr
Sets up and operates all press brakes, including numerical control press brake to bend metal to dimensions and angles.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES-Include but are not limited to the following, other duties may be applied.
Read, plan and make calculations for machine operation.
Receive job package and machine designation from supervisor.
Read job package and review blueprint to determine dimensions.
Figure bend lines and calculate size and angles using trig chart.
Plan sequence of operations applying knowledge of physical properties of metal.
Determine and select dies for operation.
Turn set screws or bolts to fasten clamps that hold dies in position.
Set guide stops and back gauges to obtain linear dimensions.
Measure and sight along work piece to mark reference lines.
Turn hand wheel or levers to set depth and pressure of ram stroke.
When setting Numerical Control Brake, key in linear dimensions, angles, gauge positions, width of die opening, material thickness, die radii, die angle, and tensile strength into control panel.
Run press brake and produce parts required per job package.
Lift and position work piece between dies of machine.
Start machine to bend or straighten work piece.
Re-position work piece and change dies when making multiple or successive passes. o If required, grind out or file burrs and sharp edges. Perform first article inspection to ensure proper set up.
Verify final product from press brake and perform final activities.
Verify dimensions of every twentieth work piece using template scale or other precision measuring instruments.
Per customer specifications and company procedures, perform statistical process control (SPC) charting.
Keep count of production and time for each job including tracking set up time and run time.
QUALIFICATIONS o Mechanically adept o Attention to detail o Able to prioritize and work under schedule demands o Good communication skills o Able to read all precision measuring instruments o Ability to read and interpret specifications
EDUCATION: A high school diploma or equivalent preferred Must speak, read, write in English.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions and percentages; fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations
