Lab Tech


Role purpose:

The purpose of this role is:

  • To assist with the all aspects of research trial preparation and planting.


  • Assist with preparing material for planting (counting seed, sorting and organizing trials, treating seed, riding planter)
  • Assist in shelling of harvested material from continuous nursery


Critical success factors & key challenges:

  • Ability to understand identifying information on field books, row bands, harvest tags, and material bags.
  • Some basic knowledge of what we do is preferred, if possible.
  • Ability to work well with a number of other people.
  • Basic computer skills




Knowledge, experience & capabilities:

Critical Knowledge:

  • Previous experience in similar setting or willingness/ability to learn.
  • Willingness and ability to drive tractor and/or forklift, a plus.
  • Ability to drive a vehicle on-site, a plus.

The candidate must have the following competencies:

  • Must be reliable, as far as working all required days.
  • Willingness to work in potentially dusty, dirty, moldy conditions.
  • Willingness to work outside in occasional extreme conditions.
  • Follow all safety and stewardship protocols.
  • Must be motivated, responsible, and reliable.

  • Ability to be flexible and tasks depending on timelines, weather, and other conditions.
  • Ability to keep on task to assist with reaching deadlines.
