Process Technician – Injection Molding
Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Process Technician to support plastic injection molding operations by ensuring efficient job start-ups, optimizing production processes, and supporting new product introduction. This role is critical in maintaining quality, improving productivity, and developing stable, repeatable manufacturing processes.
The ideal candidate has hands-on molding experience, strong troubleshooting skills, and a data-driven approach to process improvement.

Shift: 2nd Shift – 3rd Shift
Pay: $22+ (DOE)
Key Responsibilities
Job Start-Up & Production Readiness
Ensure complete end-to-end job start-up from last good part to first good part
Verify readiness of tooling, materials, auxiliary equipment, and fixtures
Support operator training and ensure proper documentation and approvals
Approve production start based on quality and process validation
Production Monitoring & Optimization
Monitor scrap rates and identify process improvement opportunities
Record and analyze process inputs/outputs (machine, mold, method, material, manpower)
Conduct process capability studies and optimization efforts
Generate reports and pareto analysis to drive continuous improvement
Maintain production efficiency while ensuring quality and safety standards
Process Control & Troubleshooting
Set and adjust machine parameters (temperature, pressure, cycle time, etc.)
Troubleshoot molding defects and process issues within tooling capabilities
Ensure correct materials are used per work orders and BOMs
Maintain process consistency and repeatability through documentation
New Product Introduction (NPI)
Support mold trials and process development for new products
Assist with design of experiments (DOE), testing, and data collection
Collaborate with engineering and quality teams for PPAP readiness
Conduct material trials and document findings for approvals
Quality & Documentation
Inspect parts and ensure compliance with control plans and specifications
Approve first articles and provide reference samples for production
Maintain accurate electronic records of process parameters and results
Support audits and quality initiatives to ensure product conformity
Team Support & Collaboration
Assist in training and mentoring production staff
Communicate process concerns and improvement opportunities to leadership
Collaborate with tooling and setup teams to ensure proper mold readiness
Support preventative maintenance activities on molds and equipment
Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED required
Minimum 3+ years of experience in injection molding or process technician role
Strong understanding of scientific molding principles
RJG / Master Molder certification preferred
Experience with process troubleshooting and optimization
Ability to read and interpret technical documents and part prints
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
Exposure to dust, fumes, odors, and warm temperatures
Ability to work in tight spaces around machinery
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
Frequent standing, bending, kneeling, and repetitive motion
Visual acuity (near/far), depth perception, and color differentiation required
