JOB SUMMARY:
We are seeking an experienced Medical Insurance Verification Specialist to join a specialty medical clinic in the Stone Oak area of San Antonio. In this role, you will verify insurance eligibility, benefits, referrals, and coverage requirements to support accurate medical billing and a positive patient experience. The ideal candidate has experience with insurance verification, medical billing, and communicating with insurance carriers and patients.
 

PAY/SCHEDULE/LOCATION/BENEFITS:
Pay Range: $16.00-$18.00 per hour, depending on experience
Schedule: Full-time, Monday-Friday office hours (No weekends)
Location: On-site, Stone Oak area of San Antonio, TX
Benefits: Weekly pay via direct deposit or pay card; Medical, Dental, Vision, and additional benefit options available

MEDICAL INSURANCE VERIFICATION SPECIALIST DUTIES:
Verify patient insurance eligibility, benefits, coverage levels, and policy information prior to services
Communicate with insurance carriers to confirm coverage requirements for procedures, treatments, and specialty services
Educate patients regarding insurance benefits, deductibles, copays, coinsurance, and out-of-pocket expenses
Obtain required referrals, authorizations, and supporting documentation to facilitate patient care and reimbursement
Process payments for non-covered services and assist patients with financial responsibility questions
Maintain accurate patient records, insurance documentation, and verification notes within the practice management system
Ensure compliance with insurance guidelines, clinic procedures, and healthcare documentation standards

MEDICAL INSURANCE VERIFICATION SPECIALIST REQUIREMENTS:
REQUIRED:
Verify patient insurance eligibility, benefits, coverage levels, and policy information prior to services
Communicate with insurance carriers to confirm coverage requirements for procedures, treatments, and specialty services
Educate patients regarding insurance benefits, deductibles, copays, coinsurance, and out-of-pocket expenses
Obtain required referrals, authorizations, and supporting documentation to facilitate patient care and reimbursement
Process payments for non-covered services and assist patients with financial responsibility questions

Ensure compliance with insurance guidelines, clinic procedures, and healthcare documentation standards
PREFERRED:
2+ years of medical billing experience
Experience obtaining referrals and insurance authorizations
Familiarity with medical terminology and healthcare documentation
Previous experience working directly with insurance companies and healthcare providers
