Snelling Staffing of Griffith, IN is currently hiring a Heavy Load Forklift Operator for a company in Schererville, IN!
Pay Rate is $22 HR
Paid Weekly!
Job Summary: The Large Forklift Operator will transport materials, supplies, and finished products to
designated locations utilizing a diesel forklift with a load capacity of 36,000 lbs (18 tons) in an outdoor
yard environment year-round.
Responsibilities include:
Safely operating all equipment in accordance with the manufacturer’s operating manual
Reading and understanding forklift load charts
Correctly calculating load weights
Identifying steel bar and pipe to be transported based on information tags and/or stencils
Loading and unloading steel bar and pipe from trucks, tractor-trailers and/or railroad cars
Transporting, moving and stacking pallets and steel 55 gallon drums with a forklift
Conducting daily equipment inspections and reporting equipment failures to the supervisor
Assisting with equipment maintenance and repairs
Accurately completing work orders and shipping documentation (verbal and written)
Keep production lines supplied with empty containers and packaging materials as needed
Physical Requirements:
Prolonged periods sitting in the forklift.
Must be able to lift up to 55 pounds at a time.
Must wear safety gear, such as goggles and gloves, when handling box cutters or similar tools.
Strong eye/hand coordination.
Will be exposed to outside elements throughout the changing seasons.
